This is the terrifying moment a massive cement mixer crashes at high speed through a tollbooth completely demolishing the supports and causing the entire structure to collapse.

The wreckage that fell onto the road at Exit D of the airport interchange of Chengdu Ring Expressway (G4202) also completely crushed the car that was underneath at the time and rescue workers rushed to the scene to look for survivors and reopen the route.

Officials confirmed that the crash happened in the early hours of the morning earlier this month when the cement mixer driver Chen Moumou, 34, crashed his cement mixer into the airport toll station.

The driver of the cement mixer appeared to hit the concrete pillars almost unchecked before coming to a stop after colliding with another structure – and he was cut from the wreckage by firemen who said he had emerged remarkably unscathed considering the speed of the accident.

The officials said nobody else was hurt in the accident despite the car that had just paid its toll and which was also crushed.

An investigation into the reason the driver appears to have not braked is currently underway with media speculating he may have fallen asleep or suffered from the failed braking system as he appears not to have tried to stop at all.
