Insurance Scammer Miscalculates Distance To Cement Mixer And Breaks Several Ribs

A Chinese woman that allegedly hoped to claim insurance by pretending she had been hit by a cement mixer miscalculated and ended up with several broken ribs.

The woman is seen in CCTV images walking down the road in the Chinese municipality of Chongqing on 18th April.

But in what police believe was an insurance scam, she then suddenly dashed over towards a cement mixer as it came towards her and threw herself down on the ground beside it.

However, she seems to have miscalculated and is struck a glancing blow before she can lie down which leaves her in need of hospital treatment for the broken ribs.

The lorry driver who slammed on the brakes immediately afterwards called the police straight away, who examined the CCTV footage and announced an investigation over the woman’s stunt.

It was revealed that she did not suffer life-threatening injuries and is said to be quizzed by cops as soon as she is released from hospital.

CCTV images in China have revealed a growing number of similar cases which are known locally as “touched by porcelain”.

The expression reportedly has its roots in people repairing damage porcelain that breaks when touched, or making it seem as if someone has forced them to drop porcelain in order to then demand compensation.

In modern parlance it refer to people who claim to be damaged by cars in order to demand compensation.

Netizens made a lot of comments about the video on the social network Douyin, which is what TikTok is called in China, such as netizen ‘Good nigh’ who wrote: “Hope its clear that the driver is not responsible.”

While ‘wind and cloud’ said: “The driver should be compensated for his mental damage.”
