This is the moment a young girl falls from a pedicab in front of firemen who have no time to react as she is run over by a saloon car seconds later.

Dashcam footage from a crowded fire engine shows the rescuers on their way back from their latest mission when they come across the distressing sight in the county of Xihua in Central China’s Henan Province.

In the video, the black saloon car can be seen following closely behind the pedicab when the two-year-old girl accident tumbles from her seat onto the road.

The saloon driver is unable to stop in time before running the girl over with both wheels on the left side of his vehicle.

The dashcam video shows the team of firefighters spotting the danger but being utterly helpless to prevent the accident.

The fire engine driver sounds his car horn while the screaming firemen dash off the vehicle to help the girl off the road.

She was later taken to hospital in the saloon car, accompanied by her parent who was in the process of taking her and her sister home from school.

The girl’s six-year-old sister remained in the pedicab and was cared for by the firefighters until other relatives arrived to take over.

According to the fire service, the girl suffered serious chest injuries after being driven over but the car.

She is still fighting for her life and remains in intensive care.

It was not clear at the time of writing whether the parent or the saloon driver would be punished for the near-fatal accident.
