This is the shocking moment two men, clearly identified in the video, hold down a screaming kitten and strike its neck twice with a blunt axe before leaving the poor fluffy feline convulsing on the ground.

The incident took place in the village of Lovcic in the eastern Croatian county of Brod-Posavina and was shared online by the animal rights group ‘Levijatan’.

They wrote alongside: “To not be forgotten. This is for sure one of the most disgusting videos until now.

“[Those] involved are more than one and is clearly seen who they are. We don’t want the reasons for the crime nor what was the motive for it. We want a fast and effective justice with the biggest condemnation!

“It is also important for everyone in their surroundings to see who is their neighbour, friend, brother or boyfriend. You will answer!”

The video was filmed by one of the culprits involved who talks to the camera before panning to a friend who has a fluffy kitten pinned to a log of wood.

One of them says: “Why are you kicking? Where are you going?”

The smiling man then takes an axe and tries to decapitate the kitten with two brutal swipes to its neck area.

The poor bleeding kitten then falls to the ground in obvious distress.

Netizen ‘Hypex94’ commented: “I hope you both die and go to Hell.”

‘Avramoviccs’ said: “Disgusting! Such people do not deserve to live. How can someone do something like that, why he did not cut his own head off like a sick idiot?”

‘IvyBgd’ wrote: “This is terrifying.”

It is currently unclear whether the local authorities are investigating the incident.
