This is the moment a burly cop dives into a river to help a colleague re-arrest a domestic abuse thug who reportedly pushed a female officer at the station before fleeing through a window.

The incident took place in the south-eastern Serbian city of Nis when the wife of the suspect, identified as 36-year-old S.A., reported that he had broken his restraining order for domestic abuse.

Officers detained him and took him to the police station where he reportedly pushed a female cop, opened the window and ran away.

According to local media, the man tried to hide in a cafe, but was spotted by a police officer. When the official approached S.A., he allegedly hit him and fled towards the Nisava River.

In the footage filmed by an eyewitness, the suspect is seen standing in the middle of the river as cops wade in to detain him.

Reports said that the suspect will be charged with violating his restraining order and attacking police officers.

In the past, the suspect previously kept a 40-year-old mistress locked up in a flat for two days where he told her “you will either be mine or dead”, according to local media.

Netizen ‘Kole’ commented: “They should have waited for him to freeze and eventually get out by himself!”

‘Cava’ said: “Bravo for the police, well done!”
