Dad Slew Wife In Front Of Eight-Year-Old Daughter

An estranged husband who shot his wife in the head in front of their eight-year-old daughter has been arrested by police in Brazil.

Suspect Paulo Roberto Moreira Soares, 38, had tried to claim he had shot his ex accidentally at her home in Ceilandia on 4th January.

But it emerged that he had been confronting victim Isabel Aparecida de Sousa, 37, about cutting him off from the couple’s joint bank account when he shot her.

The couple’s daughter – not named in local media – reportedly witnessed the shooting.

Isabel was rushed to hospital by helicopter with a single gunshot wound to the head but died later of her injuries.

Sinister photos emerging in Brazil showed heavily-tattooed Soares posing with a handgun and taking aim at an unknown target.

After the killing, Soares went on the run but handed himself in to police the next day and claimed the shooting was accidental.

The gun used in the shooting was found at his mother’s house.

The couple had been together for about 10 years and had separated two months before the shooting.

Isabel’s family says Soares had been unable to come to terms with the end of their relationship.

The investigation is ongoing.
