This is the moment a half-naked young man is dragged around a muddy lane by rope tied around his neck as he is humiliated by a group of laughing thugs.

The incident was filmed on a dirt road on a farm in the municipality of Alto Paraiso de Goias in the Brazilian state of Goias after a horse riding event on the farm, which is reportedly owned by the mayor, on 19th December.

Images show the 18-year-old victim, apparently only wearing underpants on his bottom half, being dragged around a muddy lane with rope around his neck as the culprits laugh.

In a statement published on social networks, HC Festas e Eventos, the company that organised the horseback ride, said the filmed incident took place after everything had ended, adding that it had hired 10 security guards to keep order during the event.

After the attack, the teenager was treated by paramedics from the Mobile Emergency Medical Services (SAMU) and was sent to hospital for several injuries to his body. He has already been discharged and is recovering at home.

The victim reported the incident to the police the following day and an investigation is now underway.

The farm owner Marcos Rinco, who is also the mayor of the municipality, said: “Unfortunately, these scenes took place at the farm, but all precautions were taken beforehand. During the event, there was a constant security presence and the occasional presence of local police as well as ambulances at hand for any eventuality.”

Meanwhile, the teen’s father said the incident has shaken the family, adding that his son is traumatised and cannot stop crying.
