This is the moment fireworks being lifted by a sky lantern suddenly explode on the ground and send screaming spectators running for their lives in all directions.
The incident took place in Yarumito in the city of Itagui in the north-western Colombian department of Antioquia in when the residents were using a large sky lantern to lift up an array of fireworks.
In the footage, a crowd of people watched the small hot air balloon as it starts to rise from the ground.
Just as it takes off, smoke appears around the basket and the sky lantern begins to fall to the ground.

A series of loud explosions sends thick smoke high into the air and the scared crowd running.
Following the incident, the Mayor’s office said that the event was not permitted by the local authorities and vowed to look into the matter.
Another clip shows a man limping from the scene but fortunately, no one was reported as injured during the bungled firework display, according to reports.
The local community has reportedly staged similar events in the past, but this is the first time that a dangerous incident took place.
An investigation into the incident is currently ongoing.
