This is the shocking moment a 15-year-old thug kicks a homeless OAP in the head sending him into a coma.

The incident happened in the Weidenpesch borough of Cologne, a city in the western German state of North Rhine-Westphalia.

The victim, a French man identified only as 68-year-old Jean-Pierre, has been living for a while at a tram stop in the neighbourhood after reportedly losing his job at a famed horse racing company due to his alcoholism.

According to local media, there has been increased tension lately between Jean-Pierre and a gang of teenage street thugs.

Video footage shot by the mobile phone of one of the five street gang members show how two of the teenage thugs are in a heated argument with Jean-Pierre.

Suddenly, one teen kicks Jean-Pierre in his head, sending the homeless man falling to the ground, hitting his head hard on the pavement.

The second teen is seen kicking Jean-Pierre while he is already down on the ground and can even be heard laughing.

Local media report Jean-Pierre was taken to hospital in critical condition. He is in a coma after suffering a brain haemorrhage which required two emergency surgeries.

According to the doctors, the next few days will decide whether he regains full health or not.

The two thugs in the video – both 15 years old – were identified and arrested by the cops thanks to the video.

Police spokesman Thomas Held said: “Both of them were represented by a lawyer and have made a confession.

“Since there is no reason for detention, they were released afterwards.”

The public prosecutor’s office has launched formal investigations against the two.

People in the neighbourhood were shocked by the seemingly random act of violence, with some putting candles and flowers at the incident scene.

One woman said: “He was always very friendly, he always asked ‘hello, how are you?’

“I cannot imagine what someone could have had against the man.”

According to local media, one neighbour even was allowed to visit Jean-Pierre in the hospital where she sang French-language songs at his bed and he even showed a bodily reaction while in the coma.

The victim has reportedly woken up from his coma and the next few days are said to be critical to determine if he is still suffering from any swelling on his brain.
