This is the moment a teacher whips two fighting schoolboys with his belt in a bid to breakup a fight between them.

The incident took place in the municipality of Ocosingo in the southern Mexican state of Chiapas when two schoolboys started brawling in front of cheering classmates.

Footage filmed by an onlooker was posted on Facebook where it has been viewed 115,000 times.

In the clip, two teenagers are seen squaring up to each other before taking part in some light pushing and shoving.

The schoolboy in the blue top appears to throw the first punch and he hits his rival with a combination.

However, his opponent seems angered and he responds with a blow that sends the taller boy crashing to the ground.

Just as the student gets on top of the other boy, a man in a red top walks over and whips both of them with his belt.

It is currently unclear whether the education authorities are looking into the incident. Meanwhile, netizens gave their opinions on the teacher’s reaction.

‘Tiare Bazare’ said: “It is better they get the belt today than end up in prison.”

‘Juan Manuel Morales’ commented: “This is what children need nowadays, some discipline. A lot of parents are too soft. The teacher did well, we need people like him.”

‘Hugo S Mendez’ wrote: “That is terrible. The teacher should not punish students like this, he should be suspended.”
