Coach Marvin Minnaar, 23, has appeared in court accused of murdering 12-year-old Sibusiso Dakuse, whose body was found 10 minutes from his home in Hout Bay, a suburb of South Africa’s legislative capital Cape Town on 28th February.
Prosecutors indicated to Wynberg Magistrate’s Court that Minaar, who was reportedly named ‘Satan’ by the victim’s family members in court, could also face charges of rape in the same case “depending on the police investigation”.
Victim Dakuse went missing after leaving his home to play with his friends on 26th February.
An extensive search was carried out before the boy’s body was found in an area of reeds 10 minutes from his home.
Local media report Dakuse is believed to be the last person spotted with the boy before his death and he has since been charged with murder.
The victim had recently joined the Hout Bay Music Project and was reportedly set to perform his first solo at a wedding and corporate event at the Cape Town International Convention Centre before he was killed.
In the video, the talented youngster can be seen performing a poem called ‘Dancing in the Bathroom’.
The accused has appealed for bail in the case and a decision on his bail application has been postponed until 7th April.
