Speeding Driver Crashes Into 3 People At Zebra Crossing

This is the moment a speeding driver crashes into three pedestrians at a zebra crossing – sending them flying high into the air.

The shocking incident occurred in the city of Cherepovets located in the west of the Vologda Oblast region in Russia when the three pedestrians, who have not been named in reports, were crossing the road at a zebra crossing managed by traffic lights.

In the video, the three pedestrians, two women aged 48 and 59 and a man aged 40, can be seen walking across the crossing when a speeding Kia Rio driver, named in reports as Maxim O., 25, comes into the shot.

The driver does not slow down and the saloon car crashes into the three pedestrians at high speed, send two of them flying high into the air.

The Kia then comes to a halt as onlookers rush to the scene to try to help the victims. Local media report the man and the 48-year-old woman were killed on the spot while the 59-year-old woman was taken to intensive care.

The Mayor of Cherepovets, Elena Avdeeva, told local media: “The woman was taken to the regional hospital No. 2 of Cherepovets, she is now undergoing surgery. The victim has a traumatic shock, open fractures to the legs and arms.

“I am in constant contact with the heads of the hospital. I am carefully monitoring the condition of the victim.

“I would like to highlight to that on Stalevarov and Oktyabrsky Prospekt (the road where the accident took place) there are no unregulated pedestrian crossings left.

“All the traffic lights are set up in such a way that within a few seconds the red signal lights up for all road users.”

Driver Maxim O. was arrested and handed two months of detention by Cherepovets City Court as a preventative measure as the investigation is ongoing.
