This is the moment sparks fly as a Russian daredevil rides behind an SUV on a snow scooter on a city motorway.

The incident was filmed in the city of Voronezh in the region of Voronezh Oblast, located in the central belt of the European part of Russia, and the footage has been widely circulated on social media.

According to the news site Life, the SUV driver and the daredevil on the snow scooter hit speeds in excess of 90kph (56mph) on the motorway.

The video caught the attention of the local traffic police, who have launched an investigation into the car driver and the daredevil on the snow scooter.

In the footage, the filming motorist shows his speedometer hitting over 90kph on the icy motorway before panning to a white SUV on the outside lane.

Sparks fly behind the scooter as the daredevil holds on with one hand for most of the ride, and the Annunciation Cathedral, one of the tallest Eastern Orthodox churches in the world, is seen in the background.

The Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs in Voronezh Oblast has confirmed that it is aware of the incident and has opened an investigation against the culprits.

In a statement, the Ministry said: “According to the published video, the police will establish all the circumstances behind the incident and take action against the offenders.”
