This is the horrifying moment a motorcyclist rides straight into a roadside electricity pole and dies on the spot.

The baffling incident was caught on CCTV footage in the borough of Xochimilco in the Mexican capital Mexico City at around 3.30am on 10th May.

In the video, the biker is seen riding along a main road but gradually slides off onto the pavement hitting the pole head on.

In a shattering collision, the rider is sent flying across the pavement and his helmet appears to break into pieces.

Local officials said the biker hit the pole on Prolongacion Division del Norte, the main street running through the borough.

According to reports, the victim was travelling at speed when he hit the pole and died at the scene.

The emergency services arrived on the scene and cordoned off the accident site.

Meanwhile, examiners from the public prosecutor’s office were sent to open an investigation into the incident.

No other information has been provided at the time of writing as the investigation continues.
