This is the moment a tree ‘saves’ a female biker from being hit by an out-of-control pickup truck.

The incident was filmed in the city of Campo Grande in the southern Brazilian state of Mato Grosso do Sul at around 5.30pm on 28th July.

Maria Eunice Oliveira na Conceicao, 42, was just finishing her work as a nanny in the neighbourhood of Vilas Boas when she was preparing to ride her motorbike home.

In the CCTV footage, the driver of the white pickup truck appears to be speeding and not in full control of the vehicle as it nearly hits a dark SUV at an intersection.

In the next scene, the nanny is seen wearing her helmet while holding her motorbike and apparently saying goodbye to the family she works for at the gate.

In that moment, the out-of-control pickup truck swerves from the road and mounts the pavement, heading straight for Maria just a couple of metres away and apparently unable to take any evasive action.

Luckily for the nanny, a tree is positioned between her and the oncoming pickup truck which takes the full brunt of the impact.

Maria is knocked to the ground by the tree sandwiched between her and the pickup truck, but she only reportedly sustained minor injuries whereas the accident could have been much worse if the tree was not there.

According to local media, the pickup driver was also uninjured and remained behind at the scene to face the music.

The reason for the truck driving the way it did is unclear and there has been no official statement from the police as yet.
