Spain-Andorra Road Cut Off As Huge Landslide Strikes

This footage shows the aftermath of a huge landslide which has cut access to Andorra from Spain and forced the evacuation of a shopping centre.

Local media report the landslide cut off access to Andorra from the Catalonia region in northeastern Spain for six hours on Saturday morning.

The landslide fell onto the CG-1 road near Borda Sabater and forced authorities to close the road for the drivers.

The landslide also forced the evacuation of the workers of the Punt de Trobada shopping centre, which can be seen in the second video which was reportedly recorded by the local police.

The police officer can be heard telling them to “hurry” and “get out”. The workers were evacuated over fears the landslide would reach the shopping centre, according to reports.

The Andorran Government confirmed nobody was injured int he incident but there was some material damage to the shopping centre.

The Mobility Department of the Government of Andorra have said they are working to restore the circulation between Andorra and Spain without having the need of crossing to France.

Heavy goods vehicles will have to enter Andorra through the Pas de la Casa border town with France.

The authorities said that they are waiting for the research done by geologists in order to find the causes of the landslide.
