Suspect Piero Fabbri, 56, is said to have blasted 24-year-old family friend Davide Piampiano with his rifle while they were on a hunt near Assisi, Italy.

Fabbri told police he had simply stumbled across Piampiano’s body and believed he’d shot himself.

But he didn’t realise that his pal had captured the whole thing on a GoPro head camera.

Incriminating footage – now seized by police – is said to show the victim collapsing after being hit by a shot fired from a few yards away on 11th January.

Fabbri then comes over to see what has happened and says: “Oh my God, I thought you were the wild boar, where did I hit you?”

Harrowingly, Davide replies as he bleeds out: “Help me, Piero, I’m dying.”

Fabbri then apparently tried to stage an accident.

He unloaded Davide’s gun and got rid of his own gun and hunting jacket.

Fabbri also failed to call emergency services, which were only called later when another member of the hunting party realised Davide had been shot.

Fabbri told him: “Davide told me that he fired a shot with the rifle.”

But by the time paramedics arrived, the victim was already dead.

Carabinieri seized Fabbri 25 days after the shooting after viewing the GoPro footage.

Even without the video, the autopsy report said the fatal shot could not possibly have been fired by the victim.
