A star singer was killed when she pulled her Smart car onto a motorway’s hard shoulder and another car rammed into the back of her at high speed.
The impact of the smash was so great that it overturned the singer’s vehicle, killing her on the spot, in Alcacer do Sal, Portugal, early on 19th December.
Police named the victim as 40-year-old Claudia Isabel Leiria Madeira, known as Claudisabel to her fans.
The star had been returning home from an appearance on the TV programme ‘Domingao’ in Castanheira de Pera when she suddenly felt ill.
After pulling over on the side of the A2 motorway, she called a relative to report where she was.
Seconds later, she was dead as her tiny Smart car was hit at high speed.
The driver of the other vehicle is said to have sustained minor injuries.
Claudisabel was born in Faro and launched her singing career in 1995, releasing eight studio albums.
She made a guest appearance on Big Brother Famosos – Portugal’s answer to Celebrity Big Brother – in 2002.
She was injured in another car accident in 2019 and left with lasting vision problems after another vehicle jumped a red light.
