SLIP UP TRUCK: Driver Crushed To Death By Car Park Ticket Machine

A driver crushed himself to death as he leaned out of his pickup truck to use a car park ticket machine and slipped on the throttle sending the vehicle flying forward, it has emerged.

As the truck shot ahead, the driver was sandwiched between his own vehicle and the machine, reported local media in the city of Atlanta, in the US state of Georgia on 27th October.

Atlanta Police Department officers rushed to the parking area located at 1197 Peachtree St. NE after they received a call at around 12.15am.

But when they arrived they were only able to determine that the driver had died while still sitting inside his truck.

Preliminary investigation by the APD Accident Investigations Unit showed that “the victim had opened his driver’s side door to reach the ticket machine that operates the exit gate of a parking garage.”

They added: “The vehicle moved forward while the victim was still partially outside of it which resulted in a collision and entrapment with the driver being pinned.”

The bizarre crash follows a similar case where a woman identified as Victoria Strauss, trapped her head between her car and a payment machine in a parking lot in January 2021.

Columbus Police Department claimed that the woman, from the US state of Ohio, had accidentally accelerated when she opened her door and reached down to retrieve her card.

She was pronounced dead at the scene as her car collided with the payment kiosk thus trapping her head between the vehicle door and the door frame.

The investigation is ongoing.
