This is the moment an Audi driver runs over a sleeping puppy before looking down at the injured pooch and reversing over it again as he turns around to drive off.

The incident, which has resulted in the dog surviving but it will never walk again, was filmed in the south-western Bulgarian town of Sandanski and shared on Facebook by netizen ‘Lyubka Mihaylova Mitova’ where it has so far been viewed over 30,000 times.

In the shocking footage, the Audi driver is seen parked in front of a sleeping dog in the road.

He pulls away and turns where the stray is resting, running over its body with his front wheel.

The driver then appears to look down at the poor pooch from his window before reversing over the animal, apparently intentionally.

The struggling dog is seen writhing in agony on the ground as the Audi driver turns and drives away.

At the end of the clip, the poor puppy can be seen flapping around on the ground before appearing to pass out in a pool of its own blood.

According to local media, ‘Lyubka Mihaylova Mitova’ rescued the injured dog and took it to a veterinary clinic in the capital Sofia.

According to the vets, quoted in local media, the stray puppy, which is said to be just eight or nine months old, suffered a shattered spine and Radoslav Rangelov from the NGO ‘Dog Help BG’ has said that the poor pooch will never walk again.

The NGO also claimed that the suspect is Ivan N. and shared a photo of him on social media.

Meanwhile, local residents are reportedly collecting money to pay for the dog’s treatment.

It is unclear whether the local authorities are investigating the incident.

Netizen ‘Ana Indjova’ commented: “A complete freak! Take the video to the police and make this scum pay for the treatment.”

‘Tanya Grigorova’ added: “Why do that? The dog was not being aggressive.”
