Woman Driver Crashes Through Pharmacy After Pedal Mix-Up

This is the moment a woman driver crashes through the side of a pharmacy after mistaking the accelerator for the brake while parking.

The accident happened at the corner business on Longhu Avenue in the city of Huizhou in China’s southern Guangdong Province.

CCTV images from inside Guohui Pharmacy show the staff member Yu, who was identified by her surname, sitting behind a counter when the woman’s silver saloon crashes through the glass doors.

The accident sends glass shards flying into the shop, and Yu screams and runs away, as the the video shows.

Fortunately, she was not injured and the driver, who is in her 30s and who has not been named, was not harmed either.

Yu said: “I was sitting behind the Chinese medicine counter and watching an instructional video.

“I didn’t notice when she crashed through the glass entrance to my right-hand side.

“I heard the sound of glass shattering and just ran. I didn’t even take my phone.”

According to Huizhou traffic police, the woman had been trying to park on the pavement and was “making minor adjustments” when she “mistook the accelerator for the brake”.

The pharmacist Yu said: “I think she was really shocked too. She sat in the car for a long time before getting out.”

The accident is still under investigation.
