Cops are looking for a man who was caught on CCTV letting his pet pit bull loose on the pet cat of critically ill pensioner and even stomping on the feline himself.

The cat was killed in the savage attack, which took place in the municipality of Sao Pedro da Aldeia in the south-eastern Brazilian state of Rio de Janeiro on the night of 16th April.

Footage shows how the man walks along the road with two other men and their dogs when he lets go of his own pit bull’s lead.

It is not possible to ascertain from the footage if he let go intentionally. However, when his pit bull grabs a passing cat with its muzzle and begins to savage it, he can be seen walking over to the scene of the scrap idly and apparently unconcernedly before even stomping on the feline himself with his feet.

The cat, which was killed in the savage attack, was a pet named Olaf and was being cared for by a 66-year-old man while its owner underwent cancer treatment.

The man not named to protect his identity only found out about Olaf’s demise two days after the incident, when he saw the CCTV footage of the attack and reported the crime at the local police station.

At the time of reporting, the police had not yet identified the suspect or the man he was with.

They have called on the local population for any information that may lead to their arrests.
