Hit-And-Run Motorist Drives Over Traffic Cop

This is the horrific moment a policeman tries to flag down a suspicious vehicle but is mown down by the fleeing motorist in front of other stunned cops.

The incident happened in the city of Anshan in China’s north-eastern Liaoning Province on 23rd October.

Local authorities announced a city-wide manhunt for the suspect and his passenger after it was revealed the injured officer, Wei Ronghui, 49, had died in the line of duty.

CCTV images from the city’s Jianguo Avenue showed officer Wei’s colleagues attempting to chase down the suspect’s car after the traffic officer is run over.

The cop is later seen lying motionless on the road surrounded by other officers.

According to the police, Wei and his colleagues had tried to stop the vehicle after they suspected it of failing road-worthiness checks.

Pursuing officers said the suspect’s car was later found abandoned, and the suspect, surnamed Wang, 42, was later arrested in his home.

His passenger, surnamed Sun, 41, was also apprehended at the scene.

Wang faces murder charges along with a string of other offences, including obstructing justice, hit-and-run, and driving without a licence.

The authorised said Wei ‘sacrificed himself’ in the line of duty, ultimately succumbing to head injuries resulting from being run over by the suspect’s car.
