When the police arrived, they found the seven-year-old boy sitting on a kerb and he said he was waiting for his dad, later identified as 30-year-old David William Kahler of Las Vegas, the boy’s stepfather.

The police said Kahler and the boy were involved in a car accident on the motorway in a vehicle that was allegedly stolen in Las Vegas.

The pair walked to the hotel car park where CCTV cameras recorded Kahler attempting to break into a white pick-up truck. He left the boy alone and was then filmed trying to rob another vehicle.
