Scooter Rider Sent Flying By Speeding Train Survives

This video shows a scooter rider attempting to drive over a level crossing when he is struck by a fast-moving freight train that sends him flying out of frame – and he survived.

The unnamed victim from the county of Dangtu, which is in Ma’anshan City in East China’s Anhui Province, has survived the dramatic accident and is receiving treatment at a local hospital.

Footage of the incident shows the helmet-wearing scooterist riding into frame and intending to reach the other side of the Nanjing-Wuhu Railway section of the tracks at 7:33am local time on 27th September.

But he fails to spot the ND5 freight train roaring towards him from the left-hand side until it is too late.

In the clip, the scooter rider attempts to brake, but he is struck by the fast-moving locomotive a second later, flying out of frame together with his damaged vehicle.

According to reports, the scooter rider was later found by train staff and taken to a local hospital by arriving rescuers.

The extent of his injuries has not been reported.

The diesel-electric ND5 train is not believed to have sustained any significant damage during the accident, which is still being investigated.

As county police have yet to release a full statement about the crash, it is unclear whether the scooter rider faces any legal consequences for his apparent intrusion of the level crossing.
