School Bus Knocks Pedestrian Flying On Zebra Crossing

This is the tragic moment a 63-year-old man is hit by a school bus as he tries to run across a zebra crossing.

The incident was caught on the dashcam of the bus in the former British colony of Hong Kong in south-eastern China.

The footage shows the man, who has been named only by his surname of Chan, running over the crossing as the school bus approaches.

Mr Chan failed to make it to the other side and was hit by the bus, smashing its windscreen, which barely appeared to slow down.

The footage shows the traffic light change from green to amber a split second before the bus hit the pedestrian who was reportedly thrown about eight metres (26 ft) by the impact.

Mr Chan was rushed by ambulance to the nearby Yan Chai Hospital with critical head and chest injuries.

Tragically, doctors were unable to save him and he was declared dead at the hospital.

Police have launched an investigation into the incident which happened in the city of Tsuen Wan in Hong Kong’s Western New Territories.

Lai, 65, the bus driver, who was taking 13 children home from school at the time, has been arrested but it is not clear if he is to face charges.
