Emiliano Sala’s grieving brother has said his family are still waiting “for everything to be cleared up and to know what happened” on the anniversary of his brother’s death.
Former Cardiff City signing Sala’s brother Dario Sala made the comments during an interview with French newspaper Ouest-France.
Dario spoke about the loss of his brother as today (Tuesday) marks the one-year anniversary of the tragic aeroplane accident which claimed his life.
When speaking about his brother’s memory, Dario said: “I would like for people to remember how hard he worked and fought to get to where he got and how he was as a person. People saw that too.
Dario went on to praise his brother saying: “He was loved. He did not change, he always remained the same humble and grounded person” explaining that “we are all the same in that sense.
“We had a good upbringing with our mother, she always taught us to work.”
Despite Dario feeling thankful for the messages of support to his family as it lets them “know that many people loved” Emiliano, he said: “We try to overcome the pain by pulling together.
“It is the best thing we can do and surround our mother. It is terrible for a mother to lose a son. It is also terrible for us to lose a brother.”
Dario also has a sister named Romina.
Dario said the family are waiting for the investigation on Emiliano’s aeroplane accident to finish “for everything to be cleared up and to know what happened” but admitted “we do not know exactly how long it is going to last but we know it is not a short process.”
Sala died in a plane accident on 21st January 2019 as he was en route to being unveiled as a Cardiff player.
The forward died in the accident and his body was later pulled from the English Channel on 7th February of 2019.
