This is the moment a 51-year-old hiker gets rescued via helicopter after falling ill during an excursion on a mountain in Italy.

The man, who was not named, was reached by a helicopter crew from Rome, Italy, almost immediately after they received a report of a hiker suddenly feeling unwell.

Newsflash obtained the images from the Vigili del Fuoco, along with a statement according to which the man was recovered on board and taken to the nearest hospital.

The footage shows firefighters aboard a Drago 140 emergency helicopter hoisting up the man, who was placed in a carrier and secured with a rope and carefully boarding him to safety.
