As they reach the centre of the crossroads, a black saloon car approaches from the right and crashes into the side of the vehicle, causing it to lose balance and overturn onto its left side.

Footage taken by witnesses shows smoke rising from the chassis of the van as the injured woman and the ambulance crew are tended to by arriving police and other bystanders.

According to witnesses, the ambulance was driven by a male paramedic, who was accompanied by a male doctor and a female nurse.

They are understood to have suffered minor, non-life-threatening injuries.

A spokeswoman for the ambulance service told local media: “The pregnant woman and her baby are both safe.

“The others suffered minor injuries. They’ve been sent to different local hospitals.”

According to reports, the pregnant woman and her husband are currently at Zio Maternity and Child Health Care Hospital, while the ambulance crew are Zibo Sixth People’s Hospital.
