This is the heartbroken pooch that has been waiting for its Russian owner on the roadside in -30 degree Celsius temperatures for over three months.

Locals said the Russian Hachiko dog was dumped by the roadside on the Kansk-Krasnoyarsk highway outside the village of Kuskun in the district of Mansky located in the central Russian region of Krasnoyarsk Krai.

According to locals, the cute white dog has spent the last three months waiting by the freezing roadside for the people that dumped it to return, and that it refuses help from kindhearted residents that want to offer it a new home.

Locals have dubbed the dog ‘Kuskun Hachiko’ after the nearest village where it is waiting.

They said the forlorn pooch sits by the side of the road and watches the cars pass, waiting for its owner in vain. Local media report temperatures have recently dropped below -30 degrees Celsius in the area.

In the video footage, the camerawoman approaches the shy dog and throws it some food, which it pays no mind to.

According to reports, residents regularly leave food for the pooch and have even built an improvised kennel near the roadside with the inscription: “Attention, dog waiting for its owner.”

Meanwhile, the local authorities have said they will try to tranquillise the dog and take it to an animal shelter, according to local media.
