A Russian mum has been arrested after she left home with her 10-month-old daughter and took her to the woods, where she allegedly killed her.

The 34-year-old mother of the baby identified only as Irada D. is an English teacher and lives in the village of Bolshiye Dvory in region of Moscow Oblast.

She left home around midday with her daughter in a pram, and several hours later, her sister started to get worried about where they were, and raised the alarm.

She was found in another village, Gavrino, and a hundred metres away from where she was, the body of the daughter was found lying in the snow, with the pram nearby.

An initial investigation indicated that the child had been strangled.

The mother has been arrested and has said she had tried to bury the child’s body in the snow. Police said that she has admitted to killing the child.

The woman reportedly told the police that she could not cope with the child’s constant crying, and it was also revealed that she was on maternity leave and apparently had two other children, who were unharmed.

The case has been registered as murder, and the investigation is now being continued by the Moscow Oblast Prosecutor’s Office.
