Cops in the US state of Tennessee have rescued a three-year-old girl who was abducted by her dad, whom they also arrested for killing the girl’s mum.
Riley Bockes of the city of Sanford in the state of North Carolina is now safe and sound after she was located and rescued without injury.
Her rescue was carried out by deputies from the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office in the city of Murfreesboro in Tennessee on Wednesday, 5th January.
And her dad Brent James Bockes, who was with her, was arrested by the cops on suspicion of having killed the girl’s mum in Sanford.
The dad and daughter were located after cops traced them to a Select Inn motel after the father fled with the girl following a road accident on Interstate 24 at around 8pm.
The 50-year-old man is accused of the first-degree murder of his wife Deanna Michelle Bockes, whose dead body was found on Wednesday afternoon.
The suspected cause of death was not divulged.
The suspect also faces charges of robbery and theft of a car. Furthermore, he was responsible for the motor vehicle collision on Interstate 24, according to the cops.
At the time of the last update, the suspect was being held at the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center on a fugitive from justice charge.
And the little girl was waiting to be returned to her relatives.
The Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office posted a photo of the girl eating a slice of pizza in the early hours of Thursday, writing: “Riley Bockes, 3, of Sanford, N.C., eats pizza with deputies after she was rescued unharmed Wednesday in Murfreesboro.”
