The group – who call themselves Junge Tat, or Young Act – got onto the roof of Basel station on 20th November and let off flares before unfurling a banner.

Local police in Basel-Stadt confirmed that the police operation had taken place and confirmed that six arrests were made.

The suspects reportedly refused to take off their masks and were taken to a police station for identity checks.

Basel police said that all six were men, Swiss citizens and aged between 18 and 21.

They all reportedly come from different cantons around Switzerland and none of them lives in the Basel region.

They face charges of trespassing as well as other charges, local media reports, and were released after their identities were established.

Police have not released their names to the media, due to strict local privacy laws.

The neo-Nazi militant group Junge Tat has reportedly become increasingly active in recent months in Switzerland.
