Purple Night Sky Not UFOs But Massive Cannabis Farm

This is the spaced-out purple night sky that sparked fears that UFOs were landing in Portugal.

The spooky scene could be seen for miles around the Lisbon suburb Torres Vedras freaking out ET fans who believed that aliens had finally landed.

The footage, which has notched up hundreds of thousands of views, shows the night sky tinted with a bizarre purple hue, with the images quickly making the rounds on social media after being shared online.

But the truth, it emerged, turned out to be a bit more down to earth.

The out-of-this-world light show came from a huge, legal cannabis farm growing the crop in a massive greenhouse.

But local media reported that the ‘spaceship’ was in fact coming from a giant, legal cannabis grow operation in a huge greenhouse on the outskirts of town.

But it did not stop die-hard UFO fans from sharing their hopes on social media.

One, named as ‘Horacio Lopes’, said: “Colours from out of space, man.”

And ‘Jose Albuquerque’ added: “A meteorite? It was about time.”

While ‘Rogerio Correia’ said: “The end of the world?”

Others simply posted images taken from the hit TV sci-fi series ‘Stranger Things’.

But some netizens also correctly guessed that the colours were coming from a giant greenhouse in town.
