Pregnant Woman Gets Police Escort to Maternity Ward

A pregnant woman was helped by a police officer from to arrive in time at the maternity hospital, where she gave birth to a baby boy.

The incident took place on the road between Chitila, a town in southern Romania’s Ilfov county and a maternity hospital in the capital Bucharest.

Romanian woman Cristina Sandu, 37, thanked the policeman for the unusual intervention on social media: “I don’t know his name, I “approached” him on the way, but I thank him from the bottom of my heart for the speed with which he took us yesterday from Chitila to the Hospital.”

She added: “If it wasn’t him, I had every chance of giving birth in the car. Congratulations, Mr. policeman and thank you, you are one of the exceptions to the rule!”

Later, the Bucharest police informed on social media that the first name of the policeman is Marius and that this was the 7th such intervention in his 23 years of work as a policeman.

In an interview to Newsflash, Cristina Sandu confirmed that “the birth took place without any problems”.

She added: “I am doing really well and my newborn baby is also doing great as well.”
