This is the moment a driver is caught on film with his dog chained to the back of his car as he drives around pumping fumes into the pooch’s face.

The startling incident took place in the municipality of Santa Lucia del Camino in the centre of the state of Oaxaca in Mexico.

In the video, a passenger in another car can be heard asking the driver of the vehicle with the dog to stop.

The man recording tells the driver to release the dog and moves the camera to show the pooch chained to the back of the car with a metal leash.

The driver claims he did not see the dog attached to his car.

The driver then moves the car forward slightly, forcing the dog to follow behind it before coming to a halt.

It is not known how far the dog had been dragged or if it was injured in the incident.

Neither the man recording the video nor animal protection organisations have confirmed if the case has been reported to the authorities, according to local media. 

Netizen ‘Esthela Sanchez’ commented: “That is how the idiot should’ve been tied, poor dog!”

And ‘Blanca Rico A’ added: “Outrageous, he needs to be punished.”
