This apparently loving dad carried these three pretty young girls and their young brother onto the balcony of the family home before throwing them screaming onto the ground some 20 feet below.

All four of the children were badly injured with two of them fighting for their lives after the incident on the island of Pag in Croatia in the Adriatic Sea left them lying in a pool of blood.

The boy’s mother, who was in bed at the time, described how she ran downstairs in her underpants only after being woken from bed by her husband and found her children badly injured.

Family pictures of the children with their parents give the impression of a loving father, and none of the neighbours were able to come up with a motive for the act with police also not commenting.

They said the man has been arrested and is currently in custody, and could face up to 40 years in jail for the crime. They also said they were evaluating his mental state.

They said dad Josip Rodjak, 54, was arrested at his home.

The incident involving the boy aged three and the three girls aged five, seven and eight happened in the early hours of the morning. 

The children’s mother, Katica Rodjak, told reporters: “I was in the house when he threw the children. He woke me up before 6 am. He asked me If I was asleep. I said I wasn’t.

“I did not realise that he had taken my children away until he took the eldest daughter… Then I ran downstairs. I was in my underpants, without any shoes. I saw my child in a pool of blood.”

The owner of the house where the family live, 85-year-old Bernard Maricevic, said that he heard the children’s cries. 

He said: “First he threw the three girls, and then also the boy. When he threw the boy, I was already outside. He fell like a sack.”

“His wife was yelling ‘son of a b*tch, what did you do?’ when she saw what happened.”
