Person In Critical Condition Rescued From Freezing Waters

Richmond, CA: A rescue team of several fire departments, an ambulance and a CHP H-32 helicopter responded to a report of a person drowning in freezing waters at Point Pinole on June 8, 2021. An AMR ambulance crew spotted the struggling patient south of the Point Pinole Regional Park as helicopter H-32 arrived on the scene. H-32 helicopter came above and discovered the visibly distressed person around 200 yards (183 metres) from the coast. The person was successfully hoisted from the sea and delivered to waiting rescue teams by H-32 and soon was transported to an AMR ambulance that was ready to transport him to a nearby hospital for treatment. The person was in serious condition since the bay water temperature is just over 62 degrees (16 celcius) . The incident will be investigated by the East Bay Regional Parks Police Department.
