This is the moment a woman driver who reportedly confused the pedals beneath her feet slams into a pedestrian and sends her flying sideways into a tree.
The horror accident, which fortunately caused no severe injuries, happened on the streets of Qinzhou, which is in China’s southern Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
CCTV footage of the incident shows the victim and a second pedestrian crossing the street on 29th August.
The woman’s black saloon car suddenly speeds into view and veers out of its lane before slamming into the unsuspecting pedestrian.
The poor woman is sent flying sideways into the thick trunk of the nearby tree, which she hits with her midriff before landing on the partially destroyed concrete flower bed.
Meanwhile, the woman’s car races out of frame, with reports saying it crashed to a stop against a motorbike and scooter roughly 30 feet later.
The pedestrian has survived with non-life-threatening injuries and was treated for head injuries and bone fractures, the police said.
Investigators say they suspect the woman mistook her accelerator pedal for the brake during the crash.
The female motorist admitted she was “too nervous”, and that she did not remember how it happened.
Investigations are ongoing.
