This is the shocking moment a stone fountain collapses on a group of misbehaving schoolboys hitting one of them on the head.

The incident happened in the city of Izhevsk in the south-western Russian region of Udmurt Republic.

In the CCTV footage, the group of boys, all aged 15, are seen mingling around the base of that fountain that has been closed for the winter and is covered over with a large tarpaulin.

One of the teens is in the fountain standing on the tarpaulin which means he is putting weight on the bottom of the cover while his pals watch from the other side.

However, the youngster ends up bringing the top half of the stone structure down on himself as his friends scatter in different directions.

According to local media, the group of friends were playing in the park at around 5pm when the tragic accident happened.

Local authorities confirmed that one of the stone blocks had smashed the teen’s head in.

An ambulance was called to the scene, but there was nothing that could be done and the boy died from the serious head trauma.

A video after the incident shows the fallen fountain parts scattered around the structure’s base.

Local authorities have initiated a criminal case of death by negligence and have confirmed that they are looking into the company responsible for erecting the fountain.

Investigating officers will also speak to the teenage eyewitnesses.
