A teenage girl plunged a knife into the chest of her mum’s nurse pal during a petty argument.

The chilling crime took place on a rural property in Campo Ere, Brazil, on 18th January.

Tragic Gabrieli Regina Batistella, 28, had been drinking and baking cookies at her grandmother’s home with family members and the suspect’s mother.

In the afternoon, the 16-year-old went to the property to ask her mother to come back home.

But when she got there, she started arguing with Gabrieli.

According to preliminary investigations, the teenager grabbed a knife and plunged it into Gabrieli’s chest.

Paramedics tried to revive Gabrieli in the ambulance en route to hospital, but she could not be saved.

Civil Police did not reveal what the row that led to the stabbing was about, but they said the suspect killed Gabrieli for a “trivial reason”.

They added that she hindered the victim’s ability to defend herself.

Both of these may be considered as aggravating factors when the teenager is charged over the killing.

Gabrieli lived in Palma Sola and was reportedly well-loved in the area.

She worked as a nurse, having graduated from the University of the West of Santa Catarina.

Friends have been paying their tributes to her on social media.

One, named Lia Padilha, wrote: “You were always much more than a friend. You were light wherever you went.”

Military Police seized the suspect shortly after the alleged crime.

She is being held at a Socio-Educational Centre in Chapeco on remand.
