This is the moment a guard goose does its best to walk like a pretty flamingo at a zoo in eastern China.

But visitors at the Shendiao Mountain Safari Park in Weihai, in Shandong Province, were not fooled as they joked at the goose as it even appeared to be walking like a flamingo while mingling with the exotic breed.

In a clip – filmed by a visitor named only as Mr Wang – the goose can be seen strolling around the enclosure that is clearly home to the flamingos.

Mr Wang said that he was very curious when he saw the goose.

In the video, he jokingly asks: “Where does it fit in with the flamingo family? What kind of flamingo is it?”

He told local media: “It was fun. I didn’t see the staff at the time, so I didn’t ask why the goose was in there.”

But after he shared the clip on Douyin – China’s version of TikTok – where it attracted widespread attention, staff came out with an answer.

In a short response, the zoo staff said that the bird in the video is an ordinary domestic goose.

The zoo’s flock of geese are specially bred to guard the zoo yard to stop wild cats stealing food.

Staff said the geese share the enclosure with the flamingos and have always lived together in peace.

Numerous netizens poked fun at the unusual living arrangement.

Douyin user ‘Niannian Brand Bubble Cookies’ said in a comment: “When You Exaggerate Your Abilities During Your Interview And Still Get The Job.”

Another user titled ‘North Dog’ wrote: ” It’s a flamingo mini.”

And user ‘Aganya’ commented: “New species of short-legged flamingo discovered.”
