This is the heart-wrenching moment a grieving dog tries to bury the tribute cake placed by its owner’s grave during the funeral.

The sad event took place in the city of Cangzhou, in the Hebei Province, northern China on 3rd December.

The woman, who was not named in local media, had been feeding and taking care of the dog since it was a puppy.

And when she passed away, the dog seemingly wanted to somehow thank and repay her for all the care she had given it.

After she was buried, a piece of tribute cake was placed by her grave as close friends and relatives were paying their final respects to the deceased.

In the footage, the small dog can be seen approaching the grave and sniffing the cake.

While everyone is silently mourning, the little dog walks over tremblingly and carefully covers the cake with soil.

The touching moment was filmed by the deceased woman’s brother-in-law, who was also not named in local media.

He shared the video on Douyin, the Chinese version of TikTok, to show how his sister-in-law’s dog came to say goodbye.

Netizens were very moved by the pooch’s final tribute.
