This woman who was born without lower limbs says she was stopped from going into a government building because she was wearing shorts.

Twenty-seven-year-old Nancy Boroc has taken to social media to tell her story of discrimination at the Bureau of Internal Revenue in the city of Calbayog in Samar province, in the eastern Philippines.

Boroc says that as she was about to walk into the government office with her boyfriend to submit some documentation for her sister when the security guard stopped them.

She says the guard told her she could not enter because shorts had been banned in a “new memorandum”.

When she asked if he could not make an exception because of the fact that she is disabled she was again told she could not enter.

Boroc says that the guard told her she could not go inside, adding that she would be barred from entering even if she “wore shoes”, which she reportedly found strange as she cannot wear shoes as she does not have feet.

She went home and returned later in the day and the same security guard then let her inside.

Boroc was born without feet or lower legs because of a congenital orthopaedic disability.

The government office is yet to comment on the incident.
