This is the moment a supposed caregiver repeatedly hits an 83-year-old woman in a wheelchair for “pretending” to not be able to get to her feet after falling onto the ground.
The incident was filmed on 19th April in the city of Tyumen in the southern Russia region of Tyumen Oblast by a local resident and the footage has been widely circulated on social media.
In the video, the elderly woman is seen sitting on the pavement after apparently tumbling out of her wheelchair.
The female carer says: “You are pretending, get on your feet!”
The care worker eventually manages to seat the OAP in the wheelchair again with the help of a man before slapping her several times.
The identity of the man in the footage is unclear.
Vladislav Smakov, the son of the 83-year-old woman, named Ekaterina, said that he was shocked when he saw the video as the worker has been caring for the OAP for over three years.
He told local media: “We have never had any problems with her. We visit them at least once a week. I am shocked, I do not know what could have happened that day.”
Smakov added that his mother is currently feeling well and she has been checked by doctors.
According to reports, the caregiver is now under investigation to determine the events leading up to the incident.
