This is the moment two men on a scooter drag a 12-year-old girl down a street in New York in a brazen attempt to steal her USD 1,800 necklace in broad daylight.
The footage shows the two men approaching the young girl from behind while driving the scooter on the pavement.
The man riding pillion then appears to grab her necklace and tries to yank it off her neck but it does not break and she ends up being dragged behind the scooter down the street.
The scooter then appears to crash into a parked car, with the man riding pillion then jumping off and trying to yank the girl’s necklace off her again.
The police told local media that they eventually managed to pull the USD 1,800 chain off her neck and get away, with the authorities still looking for the crooks.
The incident reportedly took place on Layton Street near Britton Avenue in Elmhurst, in the Queens borough of New York, on 24th October at around 4:30 PM.
Newsflash obtained a statement from the New York Police Department (NYPD) on Monday, 14th November, saying: “WANTED for ROBBERY PATTERN: Between 10/24/22 and 11/7/22, two unidentified males approached 7 separate victims in Queens, ranging in age from 12-years-old to 70-years-old, and snatched their necklaces from their necks before fleeing.
“Any info? DM@NYPDTips, or call 800-577-TIPS.” (sic)
It is understood that at the time of writing, the police were still looking for the suspects.
