Netizens have been left reeling after finding out that this ‘mystery mutant animal’ which set tongues wagging online is actually nothing more than a domestic pooch.

The image has been widely spread on social media in Spain and Argentina but it is currently unclear where the photo was taken.

In the photo, what appears to be a mutant animal, which has been compared to a deformed goat and a malformed cow, can be seen lying on the floor.

However, upon close inspection what appears to be the animal’s mouth turns out to be the ear of a dog lying on its back with its face facing upwards.

The confusing image has bewildered netizens, such as ‘jerecosta7’ who wrote: “I thought it was a cow with a malformation”.

‘Caamii22’ added: “No haha, I looked at it several times and have just seen what it actually is. I thought it was a dog with the head of a pig.”

‘Fernando Gomez’ wrte: “Wtf I thought it was an animal from Chernobyl.”

While ‘Sopaaa23’ commented: “I thought it was a deformed goat.”

‘Pepe_bc’ said: “Can someone pass me a manual so I can understand this animal? Many thanks.”

‘Lukovich’ wrote: “I thought it was a horse haha.”

‘VaragnoloCara’ wrote: “My head exploded.”
