The mother of this beautiful Colombian model has claimed that her boyfriend has fled the country while her daughter still remains missing after over 50 days.

Natalia Buitrago, 23, a model and owner of a cosmetics brand from the Colombian city of Cali, has been missing since 18th August when her mother last heard from her.

The young woman, who had been living in the city of Pereira for a few months, travelled to Cartagena on Colombia’s Caribbean coast in the first weeks of August to celebrate her birthday with pals.

Her mother Claribel Moreno said she last spoke with her daughter on 18th August when she planned to travel to the Rosario Islands for a few days after the boyfriend of one of her friends invited them.

Natalia told her mother not to worry if she could not contact her for a few days because she would probably not get a phone signal on the Islands.

She added: “On the day of her birthday, she travelled to the city of Cartagena on the 13th (August). On the 17th she told me she was going to the Rosario Islands for a maximum of four days. On the 18th, she told me she was about to leave, and that was the last time I spoke with her.”

The mother said she is unsure if her daughter even made it to the Islands as she was still in Cartagena at the time and she never spoke to her again afterwards.

Claribel appeared to accuse the model’s boyfriend of being involved in her disappearance, claiming: “Her partner said they had an argument on 3rd August and that it was the last time he saw her. He never helped us with the search, and all he did was look for a lawyer to protect himself.”

She added that she believes he has since fled the country.

After 10 days of not hearing from her daughter, Claribel said she travelled to her daughter’s home city Pereira to report her disappearance, and then on to Cartagena to do the same.

However, she claimed the local authorities in Cartagena are not making any headway in the case because they do not have any evidence that she was even there.

Claribel said: “My daughter could not have been swallowed up by the earth. I have looked for her in Pereira, I have travelled to Cartagena, and I have delivered information to the Attorney General’s Office, but there are still no results.”

Police chief Colonel Jorge Carrillo said: “The Metropolitan Police of Cartagena is working jointly with the Grupo Gaula, the Police Intelligence Section, the Criminal Investigation Department, and Interpol to obtain information that could lead to the location of young Natalia Buitrago.”

The search for the model continues.
