This is the moment a hero shop worker uses a judo hold to detain a suspected thief who had allegedly just stolen his mobile phone.
The incident took place outside the shop’s warehouse in Lomas del Golf in the city of Santiago del Estero in the northern Argentine province of the same name.
According to local media, the suspect, identified as Juan Orelana, went into the shop and was served by a worker as his alleged accomplice waited outside on the back of a motorbike.
The suspect reportedly waved cash around under the pretence of buying something, but when he left the scene he grabbed the phone of the have-a-go hero as he sat on a chair outside.
The pair struggled on the ground and the young victim adopted a judo lock and wrapped his legs around the suspect’s head and chest to immobilise him.
Reports said that the suspect’s accomplice then fled the scene on the motorbike.
The victim reported the incident to the authorities and the unnamed suspect was arrested and taken to a nearby police station.
The shop owner Alicia said: “This thug again attacked our business and our people in Lomas del Golf as the other thief waited on a motorbike.
“They did not buy anything, they just went there to steal.”
