The racer, named as B. Anbarasan, 27, was charged after 28 police cars chased him in Cyberjaya, Malaysia, in the early hours of Tuesday, 5th December.

A number of videos show how the suspect raced down the road at speed with a large number of police cars in hot pursuit.

One cop car from the Royal Malaysian Police can be seen trying to ram his car as he speeds down a dual carriageway at night.

The images also show a long line of police vehicles with their sirens blazing as they race after the suspect, who reportedly worked as a lorry driver.

One short clip appears to show the moment after the suspect’s vehicle, reportedly a Malaysian-made Perodua Bezza, was finally stopped, with a sea of flashing blue lights at a standstill after the authorities apparently managed to corner him.

It has now emerged that B. Anbarasan has been jailed for one month and fined MYR 10,000 (GBP 1,700) after he pleaded guilty to reckless driving and obstructing the police from carrying out their duties.

He has also been banned from driving for five years and could be jailed for eight months if he fails to pay the fine.

He and his wife, named only as 21-year-old M. Rishlani, also pleaded guilty to possessing a dangerous weapon, a knife, without a licence.
